Reading "Dialogue and the Art of Thinking Together
Although my ARP at this time does not directly relate to group communication, I still found the book Dialogue and the Art of Thinking Together interesting and helpful. It guides me to learn how to talk together with people in honest and effective ways. In my later cycle, I will share my research findings and student products to my peers in order to introduce them in best practices for integrating technologies into their classrooms. To do this, I need to build a strong community of my peers. At that time I think I will come across some group communication issues. How do I solve those issues?
In the book, Isaacs pointed out that new knowledge and understanding are achieved as individuals share their knowledge and experience with each other. Sharing infomation promotes new connections and new understadings, which result in the construction of new knowledge. Perspectives are broadened as individuals see beyond the confines of their own classrooms and consider the organization as a whole. (p. 30)
The point that I have learned so far from this boook is that the more individuals practice dialogue, the more we develop a relationship built on a deepening sense of trust, the more we strengthen community.
How are individual and collective values clarified and enhanced through community?

I really enjoyed reading about your arp and about this book. I haven'read it yet, it looks interesting. I think you have done an excellent job of documenting things for your ARP that will be helfpul when putting everything together and comparing information. I am one of the people that have a harder time blogging and getting to the actual reflection. Susan (master blogger) gave me some great advice to help me get to the reflection faster. Maybe they will help you too. She gave me some questions to help me guide my blogging to the point of a reflection. I can definately see you are learning as you document it here, but I also think if you probe a little deeper with some more questions, the learning will be even more evident. Questions like "What kinds of communication issues do you think you will find in your class and why?" It seems like you can take a lot of the things you have mentioned here and go a lot further with them.
Expand more on the connections you comment on in the 2nd paragraph. Why are these connections important? What do you think will be the difference in learning? How can this be applied to your specific situation.
Hope that helps. Overall I can see lots of learning, just some ideas that have helped me.
